No matter the cargo volume and/or weight, using our services you may choose to transport worldwide, big volumes and/or heavy loads in full container loads (FCL) or small parcels in less-than-container loads (LCL).
Full Container Load (FCL)
FCL is an abbreviation for Full Container Load. FCL term is used in ocean freight service describing full container shipping from on one place to another. FCL usually associates one shipper and one consignee. Full container shipping usually brings lower cost, than equivalent size and weight of cargo bulk.
FCL container shipment usually attracts lower freight rates than an equivalent weight of cargo in bulk. The FCL means the loading reaches its allowable maximum weight or full measurement. In practice, the FCL in the ocean freight does not always mean packing a container to its full payload or full capacity. Container loading is a quite difficult procedure, and during the loading it is necessary to pay attention in order to avoid cargo damage. Following there are some rules you should know in order to save goods in proper condition:
- The container loading should be inspected inside and outside, before loading.
- The cargo must be lashed by the best appearance inside the container.
- The container must be loaded the admitted weight.
- Cargo should be packed in the proper way, it’s necessary to use special packing for sea or air shipment.
- During the loading you have to use suitable equipment, do not use heavy forklifts into the container during loading/discharging, it follows risks of damaging the container floor.
Less than Container Load (LCL)
LCL is an abbreviation for Less than Container Load. LCL is a term used to describe the transportation of small ocean freight shipments not requiring the full capacity of an ocean container – usually less than 20 CBM (cubic meters). A freight forwarder may create a “Consolidation” by putting together multiple LCL shipments.
Shippers often use LCL service as an economical alternative to air freight for smaller, less time-sensitive shipments.
